What makes Door County Kayak Tours different from other zip line tours in the North America?
Door County Kayak Tour is a beginner-friendly experience that combines the fun of ziplining and rock climbing without the discomfort that can result from extreme heights or speeds. At Door County Kayak you will never be more than 35 feet off the ground and friends and family are welcome to follow the entire course from our paths on the ground (photography is encouraged!). We know that this course will be the first zip lining experience for many visitors and that it doesn’t take much height to give people a sense of loftiness. This zipline course is great for beginners and people with experience alike.
How long does a tour take?
The zipline tour takes about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on group size.
What should I bring and wear on the tour?
Closed-toe shoes are a must, no flip flops please! Also, pants and long sleeves are recommended, but not mandatory. Long hair should be tied back. Minor scrapes are a part of the zip lining experience, so it’s always good to have and extra layer of protection on such as pants. And as is true for most outdoor activities in Door County, sunscreen and bug spray are good ideas.
What have you done to ensure your tour is safe?
Our course is routinely inspected to meet or exceed the ANSI-accredited ACCT guidelines. All of our gear meets National Fire Protection Agency standards, and our guides go through extensive safety training and have First Aid & CPR certifications. They will give you a detailed briefing called “flight school” before the tour begins.
Why do you have weight and height restrictions for your tours?
This tour was built and tested to bring people who weigh between 40-225 lbs at the appropriate speeds across the cables. In order to minimize risk of injury, we do not recommend that people outside of that weight range come on our tour. People ages 8 and above are allowed on our tour. This age was determined collaboratively with our builders and insurance company based on the maturity level required for an active tour of this nature.
How will I slow down safely when I am zipping across the cables?
Our zip line course is a hands-free experience. Since the angle of decent is relatively small, the guides will provide breaking at the end of the tour.
How many zips are on the tour?
Our tour consists of 5 zip lines. If the zipline racer is rented out, it is a total of 4 lines.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes, all participants must sign a waiver before participating in the tour. The waivers are provided at “Base Camp” upon arrival.
